Bill Dorrington.  I knew quite well.  He was from the Liverpool area.  He and a few others were infantry men transferred from the Kings Liverpool Regt.    He Johnny Brunt and Jack Laidlaw were in the same tank and were brewed up at Caen and isolated in a field with little cover.  Jack Laidlaw was the driver and pulled Johnny Brunt out of the burning tank.   It was Johnny's regret that he never thanked him.   I used to run cross country against them.  All great lads. Bill never came to any reunions.   He came to Fred's tank when we were recalled.   That was a bloody awful two or three days.   I can still see the shells of the 88mm ploughing through the corn fields. We lost a lot of tanks and men that day.  Will
